ICAR - The International CAtastrophic Risks Forum is the main European catastrophic risks event.

The 5th Edition of the Forum took place on October 14th, 2008 at the Parliament Palace in Bucharest. This year, discussions were focused on managing agricultural catastrophic risks, while at the previous four editions the main topic was the creation of a Romanian cat pool.

ICAR 2008 provided attendees with on open-discussion platform upon the use of insurance schemes and their potential use as a tool for developing Romania's agriculture.

Therefore, the events' findings - and thus the main solutions for amending the current local legislation - were sent in the form of an official paper, to the main European and Romanian public institutions: Presidency, Parliament, Government, Ministries, The World Bank, to relevant farmers' professional associations, NGOs and mass-media.
